Namitha Kapoor is an Indian actress who has appeared in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu movies. She mainly works in the south film industry. She was born on 10 May 1981 in a Punjabi-speaking Kapoor family in Surat, Gujarat and was raised in Mumbai. Her birth name is Namitha Mukesh Vankhavala and is popularly know as Namitha. She holds a degree in English Literature and used to teach swimming to young children.
She was first noticed in the glamorous entertainment industry after being crowned Miss Surat during the year 1998. There after she went on to participate in Miss India pageant in the year 2001 where she ended up as the fourth runner up. She was now in the lime light and went on to do a number of TV commercials like Himani cream, Arun Ice Cream, Manikchand, and Nile herbal shampoo.
Namitha first made her debut in the Telugu film Sontham directed by Sreenu Vitla. She made he debut in the Bollywood industry in the film Love Ke Chakkar Mein. Her first successful film was Engal Anna in which she starred opposite Vijayakanth.
